BasicOps Review: Really Solid Project Manager

I trialed BasicOps, then bought it, because I want one easy to understand PM app I can always use without reinventing the wheel. This one just works. It is clean and simple enough to just focus on the tasks at hand. It does a great job at capturing your tasks on the fly and then pushing the tasks into different views so you never lose sight of agenda. The tipping point for me was the ability to add Sub-Tasks in as deep a hierarchy as I want. If I want four levels of sub-tasks under one task I can do it and there are views which show the indentation for easy visual interpretation of the nested items. This is great and something you see lacking in so many other comparable apps that have been on AppSumo. And the user management is actually quite good even though I'd like to see a little more granularity to the admin's permissions in the future. The current different guest levels to choose from when adding a user are still refined enough that you could also use this as a client portal app. Unless I missed a detail, the calendar integration needs some sprucing up. We should be able to choose which calendars we want to integrate. As of now it only integrated ones in my Google Calendar that have the default Events label. This is not critical to me yet, but could be in the future. For now the PM features are robust and allow me to capture all of my thoughts on the fly and get them into tasks or notes. And you can convert notes into tasks which is smart. With a few improvements and an API I think BasicOps has the structure to be one of the best project management apps in the market. It's already excellent and I'm hoping this team will keep refining it.

Thanks Rik for your great 5 tacos review!

We are continuing to enhance BasicOps at a rapid pace and are listening to all feedback and suggestions.

On that note… we are just testing the ability to integrate multiple Google Calendars. So look out for this in the next couple of days…

Thanks again and have a great weekend!
