A regretful 2 star review

Really wish I could rate BigVU higher but ... Yesterday was the end of my 60 day refund period. I'd briefly tested it on my phone some weeks ago and it seemed to work ok but then "things happened" (work, home, covid etc). I was on the verge of refunding but I asked support if I could change the email addresses for team members whenever I wanted and explained my planned use case. They said yes....Great! So I kept it.

Today I added a team member, to test it, using a second email address and ... well, it turns out all users - even when set to "member" as opposed to the two higher roles (workspace manager and account manager) can not only see everything but can add their own social accounts. There's no way to stop this.

But it doesn't even make sense how it works. Despite having three levels of role, ANY team member can add a social channel and set it as workspace or personal. So there's two levels of access control there. But a team member can add a social channel and set it as personal and you, as the workspace manager (and account owner), can't even see it, never mind edit or remove it!

All media seems to be shared. But team members don't seem to be able to edit the brand colours/fonts - even though the option is there. When they change them, it comes up with an error.

So basically, it's a complete mix of no access control, access control based on errors, or - for the only part that has any sort of real access control - access control that gives team members the ability to do things that the account owner can't see!

All this means it isn't usable for our needs, and I'm one day past the refund period... Even if I spent more (and I don't want to) on tier 2 for unlimited workspaces, they could still add their own social accounts. They shouldn't be able to if the admin doesn't want them to. And, of course, I have no idea if there's actually any access control on the workspaces at all (I'd hope so but ...)

To make all this even worse, when I asked support today whether I was right about how this was "working" I was told yes, that's how it works but that they'll suggest changes to the devs. I said thanks but it's not likely to change is it, given they've been around a few years and this is a basic feature. To which I was told everyone has different ideas and preferences for features and all they can do is pass them on to the devs.

When I replied to this message saying that I understood that, but this was fundamental to any system that is meant to allow team members, the reply was the same and... the chat was ended on me!

Great way to go support member! Because everyone knows people just love being cut off like that don't they?

Utterly frustrating.

If you want it for yourself. It's fine. If you want it for a team and have absolutely no need for structure or control, it's fine. If you live in the real world where you have a team and want some level of control to protect your brand, don't bother. I wish I hadn't.
