Formly deserves 5 tacos with a side of guacamole, chips, refried beans, and churros for dessert!
I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Ash from Formly’s support team, who went above and beyond to help me set up conditional logic. When I added too much conditional logic, one of our forms wasn’t working properly, so I reached out for assistance. Ash graciously offered to jump on a call with me. Thank you, Ash, for your patience and for making the experience smooth and stress-free.
I've used similar tools like Typeform before. While Typeform has some cache and options, I prefer using Formly. Formly stands out for its intuitive interface and relative ease of use. It offers exceptional value, delivering comparable functionality to Typeform at a significantly lower cost. Side note, I LOVE LTDs without recurring costs.
Given my familiarity with Typeform, there are a few areas for improvement that have been noted in previous reviews. Notably, as one reviewer said, keyboard navigation would be great. Typeform allows users to simply press Enter to move to the next question, so adding an "Enter" key shortcut for navigating between pages would streamline the form-filling experience without needing to move the mouse to the "OK" button. This would enhance usability and accessibility. I often find myself hitting Enter out of habit, but this functionality is missing. Not a HUGE deal.
Conditional logic can be frustrating when rules become overly complex. I struggled to set up multi-step logic, and at times, it felt unintuitive and time-consuming. As Ash explained, conditional logic only displays questions if certain conditions are met. Once he suggested duplicating questions to avoid asking the same thing twice, a lightbulb went off for me. As a visual learner, it would be great to create strings or map out the logic instead of having it all on one page, similar to what happens in AI chatbots that ask one question and then load other questions. Regardless, once I figured it out, it became quite simple to follow, and my forms are working well now!
An autosave feature would also be beneficial. Sometimes when I click "Save," it indicates that everything is saved, but when I try to access the logic section or the email settings, I get a message asking, "Are you sure you want to do this?" (not those exact words), making me question whether I've saved my changes properly. While I've not lost any data or questions, having to save and then publish to see all the changes would be easier with autosave. Again, not a big deal.
At the end of the day, Formly is an impressive and customizable platform that offers a wide range of features I've started to implement across our companies. I love the dropdown menus, email verification, and the ability to customize the domain without changing the CNAME.
Overall, Formly has the flexibility and creative options I need to enhance the user experience. Conditional logic was a bit challenging, but that’s only because I’m a marketer, and marketers don’t always think logically... I was also never very good at math...so there's that.
I think the team is exceptionally responsive and always willing to listen and explore possibilities. With a few minor enhancements, Formly will be top-notch. Honestly, this team has a bright future, and this platform is a game changer for marketers looking to connect leads with sales teams.
