Feeling strongly that I have been scammed!

After purchasing the AppSumo $79 Sendinblue Lifetime deal, a test E-Mail was sent after activating my account, and all looked good at that point. Websites had to be set up, and many other tasks before I would be ready to start a campaign, so it was months later when the issue presented itself. Meanwhile, there were landing pages, E-Mails built, sender and domain was verified, campaign was designed, and after all this preparation, this error appears "You need an active Transactional account to be able to send confirmation emails. Please contact customer service to activate it." So customer service was contacted, with the following response:

"After reviewing your account, I am sorry to notify you that we are unable to validate it for sending.

Each new account undergoes a series of electronic and manual reviews that thoroughly analyze it to determine if our services would be a good fit for the potential customer. We do this to ensure that new accounts comply with our terms of service and also to ensure that the user is in a position to be successful using Sendinblue. If an account is not approved by either the electronic or the manual review, I am afraid that we are unable to move forward with validation."

Today I spoke with a customer service representative about the situation, and got this in a follow-up E-Mail:

"As mentioned on the call, we are unable to disclose information about how our analyses operate because we must limit the risk of bypassing our security and verification settings. I know this is not the outcome that you were hoping for, nor the details that you requested. I assure you that we are not in the business of refusing potentially great and loyal customers on a whim, so please know that we do not make these decisions lightly."

All the time setting it up, and building landing pages -- the whole 9 yards -- time totally wasted. Good thing I had not sent any campaigns. If you look through the TrustPilot reviews there are true horror stories of people months into campaigns where the SendInBlue AI algorithm shut them down!

On top of all this, they say they cannot provide a refund because the plan was purchased via AppSumo. AppSumo no longer offers a refund because it is past the 60 days. This is the reason I got my account validated in the beginning and sent a test E-Mail.

In the past I have worked in internet security at NASA and was certified for 13 years, so for them to state I have a security issue is suspect to me. Close to 10% of the people that took the time to enter a review on TrustPilot have had issues as well.

Hi, I'm sorry that you feel this way. Unfortunately, your business does not comply with our Anti Spam Policy https://www.sendinblue.com/legal/antispampolicy/

We explicitly stated this point in the offer in order not to disappoint anyone.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to activate your account. You can request a refund from Appsumo.

Absourd awesome mail platform

People who complain about limits, in my opinion, aren't aware of the Sendinblue greatness, stability and longevity of the tool. I use Sendinblue since 2016 and I couldn't be more satisfied with the affordability of the company and its continuous efforts to develop and improve the platform day after day.

Improve email delivery and really GDPR compliant

Hi, there are more email marketing platforms. But Sendinblue servers are located in EU so this is really GDPR compliant. Why does this matter? This article gives a nice overview on that subject

https://matomo.org/blog/2020/07/storing-data-on-us-cloud-servers-dont-comply-with-gdpr/

As I'm operating in the EU the datacenter location should be in Europe. So Sendinblue is my choice!

Amazing Product, Thank you Sendinblue!

I couldn't be happier with SendinBlue. In my case i'm using it for my transactions e-mails for my e-learning site and they work like a charm. I also love the detailed reports, so i can see that my students are actually opening the e-mails from the orders.

And they also have integration with Wordpress and Woocommerce. They also have automations lie abandoned cart and so on. An established and mature e-mail solution, that will fit well for any user case.

Poor support and bait-and-switch for transactional emails

I purchased this to use for their transactional email service, and discovered they are adding an automatic unsubscribe link (via a List-Unsubscribe header) to their transactional emails! This makes their transactional email service completely unusable, because you can't have customers unsubscribing from those (e.g. order confirmations, invoices, password resets, etc.).

When I asked about how to disable this, I got this response from their customer support: "Also, I would like to add, on shared IP sending, there is no possibility of removing the unsubcribe link, this is something we don't allow sadly," but "We might have some options if, the sending is done on dedicated IP [starts at $251 a year] and also, includes restriction of sending content." Nowhere is this mentioned in Sendinblue docs (only this: https://help.sendinblue.com/hc/en-us/articles/209502605-Manage-your-transactional-email-unsubscriptions -- implying the opposite; that unsubscribing from transactional emails has to be enabled if you want it.

I feel really misled by this. Even worse, emails to certain email service providers that have no deliverability issues when I switch to my other transactional email service are being blocked (not arriving at all) or going to spam when I use Sendinblue. I also reached out to customer support about this, and received the completely unhelpful response that "To fix this emails ending in SPAM, could you please ensure the contacts have added your sender email as a contact on their email client." ...That is their solution? Yikes.
