ShortySMS Review: Key Usability Features Missing

5 stars
5 stars

From the description & other reviews, the product seemed to be just what we needed. Unfortunately, this product is still clearly in beta and needs a lot more functionality before it can be used in other than an SME (small to medium enterprise) case. Observations: 1) Only a single login which effectively means that if you get the tier 2 or tier 3 plans, only one person can manage / respond to incoming messages and create campaigns unless you share the login credentials with others in a team. 2) Replies coming back from a campaign are not being re-directed back to a campaign in-box or an inbox that is specific to the outgoing number. 3) Using Zapier, their aren't any fields in the ShortySMS zap to provide information about the "reply to" number and/or the campaign ID when using the "deliverable" trigger. This makes it impossible to create any meaningful triggers when someone replies to a campaign or sends an ad hoc message. 4) Very unintuitive process to change the list for a contact or add a contact to a list after the fact. 5) Product review says unlimited SMS but Twilio will still charge for messages sent. Although the product allows you to send as many messages as you want, there is still a cost associated with this. Positives 1) 5 Tacos for a very simple SMS sending/reply system and the price is definitely right

Hey, madeitincanada! Thanks for your kind review here, and your great suggestions.

It seems like we are onto something with ShortySMS — and the flexibility and at-cost pricing we offer — and I'm glad that you agree. The bugs that you mentioned are great to know. In the future, per the AppSumo community guidelines, please make sure to message our Support team directly and we can work on tackling those quickly and easily.

We'll keep updating and improving ShortySMS. Can't wait to keep making the product better for you!
