It's just cool

I've wanted to utilize link roundups for a while now but just don't have the time (or inclination) to scour the web/social every week. UpContent solves this and has an impressive collection of resources; it kinda reminds me of MissingLettr's "Curate" collection. It's definitely helped me create this roundups much faster with relevant content.

also, support is super. Scott was on top of things for me even over the holiday weekend. Five tacos.

Awesome Product and Customer Support

UpContent does what it claims to do. But the best thing is their customer support. Definitely 5 tacos.

Great Tool for Content Curation

This is a great tool for content curation. I've been playing around it today. The experience is good so far. There are a few hiccups... but nothing deal breaking. I've submitted them as feature requests.

Disappointed

I was looking forward to this deal. I had already noticed the tool some years ago and wanted to try out to create regular email of articles I find on internet.

However, trying out the tool I now feel disappointed. Here are my problems with it:

- tool is not intuitive. I ended up reading all their help articles and even writing to helpdesk to understand how it works and what I can (or can't) do with it. Even then I am not sure I get it.

- UI is bit dated and opaque; e.g. left column's contents font is too small.

- default resources are limited and mediocare at best; but you can't add RSS to topics so they are used for search or filtering and picking articles you want. You can add RSS sources to collection, but then there is no full control of what goes into RSS feed and then to distribution. So, to be sure only content I manually pick is sent for publishing I need to create another - "clean" or "final" - collection (but collection count we get is super limited).

- no possibility to add RSS sources in bulk. As I have hundreds of sources it will take

- Integrations are limited and mostly are based on RSS.

- you can't select and push articles to email (or I haven't found a simple way to do that) - only set regular email campaigns that read RSS.

- HTML emails is not part of the deal.

- Too few collections per code.

- Not sure what happens with published articles (e.g. when my Mailchimp email is sent) - are they automatically removed from collection? Or I have to clean up my aticles myself reguralry? How do I know article has been sent to Mailchimp or pushed to RSS?

And one more thing - it is not an alternative to Feedly. That statement is misleading (I hoped to leave Feedly for Upcontent but today I renewed my feedly subscription). Feedly is feed reader (with possibility to share and curate content) while UpContent is curation tool (with ability to reed the article).

Hello Atis,

I am sorry to hear of your disappointment with UpContent. Your critiques have definitely been noted and I will be delivering them to our internal team to review.

I will let you know, that we do plan on reworking the ability to add RSS feeds to Topics in the near future to help create your own searchable reading list.

We are also always entertaining the ideas of integrating with new third-party resources, however, if you have questions about specific partners/integrations we would be happy to answer them as well.

Whenever an email is sent that contains articles that were found within UpContent, the articles will remain within the Collection the email was sent using. That being said, we limit the ability for integrations like Mailchimp and such to use duplicate content more than once (ie. if article A was sent last week, Mailchimp will not send article A this week).

Our goal is to provide you a place to find content, distribute content, and get content in front of an audience, and I apologize that we do not seem to fit those needs at this point.

If you would like to set up some time to chat, you can always send over an email and we can sit down and talk about what you would like to see when it comes to UpContent!

Thank you for your feedback,

Dylan from UpContent

Hi Dylan!

Happy to hear that you keep working on product and will ad new functionality. Really looking forward it.

What I would like to have with UpContent is more control over content, especially - what goes into RSS and emails.

From integrations I'd like to see:

- autonation: pabbly (as alternative to Zapier)

- email: SendFox, Mailerlite

- link shorteners and CTA: Replug, Joturl

- social sharing: SocialBee
