A very good product.

Hello,

I did a test drive for a while and here are my views on the product. I was using berrycast before and trying to switch to a better alternative. this review summarises the differences between berrycast and Vmaker.

Vmaker pros:

1. One big advantage to provide a public roadmap of development is, you can make a clear purchase decision. Most of the products (not all) come to appsumo in their beginning phase. If there is no public roadmap, the product may move in a direction that no longer interests you. kudos to the vmaker team in this regard.

2. Annotation tools and basic editing. These are the strengths of Vmaker. Berryast lacks these important features. I have reached out to the berrycast team to know whether they are interested in developing these. I did not receive a clear answer. Imagine a situation where you made a small mistake while recording and there is no way to remove so you have to do the recording all over again.

where vmaker lagging behind:
1. no windows app. which means, I can't use annotation tools that are essential for teaching videos. the team has promised in Q3 until then this tool is of no use for me compared to berrycast. by the way, berrycast has more integrations and a windows app as well.

2. Password protection: this is in the roadmap as well. For now, there is no password protection.

3. at least in the initial deal, berrycast has provided unlimited users license. so I consider the deal was comparatively generous.

Summary:
you can't go wrong with either of the products. it simply boils down to what are features you want and what is the size of your team. However, I can see the vmaker suits my needs as it is more focused on teaching (Camtasia alternative) and communication. whereas berrycast just focuses on communication aspect.

Looking forward to the Animaker appearing on appsumo.
