4 Tacos in Current State, but Here's Why I'm Giving a 5
I bought one license code for this about a month ago, and have been playing with it since. I was concerned about the negative reviews I'd seen, and wanted to check it out for myself.
Today, I'm back to max the deal.
As an advertising agency, we're already getting tremendous value from this tool, and I'm willing to throw some money 1Brand's way in a bid of confidence.
Some of the criticism that the software isn't fully baked yet is accurate — it's still slightly buggy.
One issue is in the Agency functionality. The system doesn't seem to recognize when you promote a customer from "basic" to "pro." Once you update a customer to "pro," you still get prompts to upgrade, and sometimes you can't access the features of a "pro" account. We've discovered that logging out (and sometimes waiting a bit) are necessary for "pro" features to kick in. We're kind of wondering if the 1Brand team isn't doing the "pro" updates manually at this time.
Other issues relate to features that are needed to be a fully functioning Agency SAAS solution. We need to be able to add fonts that aren't available in the software, add other brand assets, use custom features for Agency branding, and use custom domains - ALL of which are on the roadmap.
But none of those criticisms mean the software isn't delivering value RIGHT NOW. It's extremely easy to add a Brand Book. The 8 available colorway code types with the click-and-copy color code feature, and the ability to upload vector logo files and make them readily down-loadable to anyone with the link, will save us time every day - sufficient time to pay for the price of this deal. And it's SO easy to distribute that brand book when you're done (just a tip: we're putting the links in branded shortlinks until the CNAME feature is done).
In addition to the time (money) savings already mentioned, 1Brand — in its current state — is already capable of creating brand consistency among client teams, the agency teams supporting them, and the broader network of contacts who need brand elements for advertising, social, printing, etc. etc. That's a value that's hard to put a price tag on, but it's a helluva lot higher than $300 for even ONE client account.
It looks like 1Brand is a small team, and it remains to be seen if they are capitalized enough to do all the things the Appsumo community has suggested. But the tool has sufficient value now to support these lifetime deal price tags, and I'm willing to bet on this becoming a powerful agency tool in the future.
