Q: Hello Ashraf, I am very excited about ActivePieces, but one of my colleagues says it won't work for one of our use cases.
And since you know your solution better than anyone, I will ask you directly.
We have Excel files containing structured data primarily related to products sold on e-commerce websites. Each line in the Excel file represents one product. IMPORTANT: There can be up to several thousand lines in each file.
Each column corresponds to a type of data. For example: product reference, dimensions, weight, colors, materials, brand, category, commercial name, image URL, etc. There can be up to several dozen columns in an Excel file.
I would like to import this data or let AP monitor a Dropbox folder for example, maybe send the Excel files to AITable for example, and then communicate with OpenAI or Anthropic APIs by sending specific instructions for these APIs to generate texts based on the data we have for each product:
• A meta title
• A meta description
• A description text
• A slug
These texts would then be added to the database.
Once all the texts are generated, I would like to export everything into a new Excel file with the generated texts added in new columns. If possible, it could be useful to get another output file format like JSON, for example.
Is it something we could achieve with ActivePieces (+ another tool)?
Best regards,
Florence.

Jun 11, 2024A: This is possible with Activepieces. You can connect a Google Sheet and read the rows gradually, send them to OpenAI and get them back again. But honestly, why don't you get a Google Sheets extension for OpenAI and generate all these right in the sheet? Isn't that easier?
I’ve been told it wouldn’t work with so many rows, columns and API calls. There are restrictions with Google Sheets. We surely need a kind of pace management to get the process running smoothly for dozens of thousands cells.
You're right, because if you just copy the formula and paste it across all rows, OpenAI will definitely rate limit you and nothing will re-trigger them again. That makes sense, I think Activepieces can help!
Do you just "think" it would help or are you absolutely certain that this process would work perfectly with AP? :-)
Because there are details in the middle, I can't be sure. As a use case, we have hundreds of users doing it every day. However, don't forget that you can refund if you don't like it!
