I work as a software developer most of the time, and in the past couple of years Open Source projects that are also provided in a "managed" or SaaS form, are taking over the world. The fact that ActivePieces core app and all integrations are open source, means that lots of people and companies get on board running their own versions of ActivePieces (which you should try if you have the knowledge) while also contributing to the code fixing issues and adding features. It's a business model that has only recently started to get traction and makes me believe ActivePieces will be still going strong in the coming years.

The app is way simpler than other cloud automation tools I've tried from here (not Make which I missed, but a lot of other available in the last 2 years). And it's a breath of fresh air to have a really simple interface and sidebars that only have one or two use cases, all while working like a charm and supporting complex workflows if you need them.

Case in point: I tried to use webhooks to connect a simple form and post the response to a Discord channel, and also adding the respondent's email to a Sendfox list to start an automation. Quite simple workflow, but the way other tools handle incoming webhooks and integration credentials make this simple task something that can easily take a couple of hours. Not ActivePieces: I had it working in, like, 15 minutes? And that includes setting up my account. Amazing.

I really hope they build a nice business and get to challenge other players in the automation field. Their approach is very different and allows you to build your own pieces, use connectors built by others, or hack your own with the code and http modules they have.

I went for the higher Tier and truly recommend you do the same.
