Poor leadership and lack of respect for supporters and its community
As a Tier 5 early adopter on AppSumo, I invested significantly in ActivePieces, hoping to support the growth of a promising automation platform. Unfortunately, my experience has been one of deep disappointment, defined by a pattern of behavior that suggests the company prioritizes short-term fundraising over product development and loyalty to its foundational supporters.
The most glaring issue has been the decision to gate new, critical features like Tables and MCP servers, making them unavailable to the very AppSumo community that provided early capital. This is an indefensible move that breaks faith with early backers. While competitors like Boost.space are actively rolling out similar features to their users, ActivePieces has chosen to sideline its initial supporters.
This decision is symptomatic of a broader problem. The platform's development has been glacial, with a slow rollout of new integrations that leaves it feeling perpetually immature and unsuitable for serious production use cases. Beyond some initial testing, I have been unable to justify using ActivePieces for any real-world workflows. Community support, when available, has been sporadic and unhelpful in my experience.
For those considering an open-source, self-hostable automation tool, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Both ActivePieces and N8N are open-source, but the comparison ends there. N8N's community and development velocity are in a different league, a fact reflected in their respective GitHub stars: N8N has over 115,000, while ActivePieces lags with around 15,000. This is not a coincidence; it's a clear indicator of a project's health and trustworthiness.
Given that both platforms can be self-hosted with a Docker instance and a Cloudflare tunnel, your time and energy are far better invested in a project that respects its community and is committed to long-term value. ActivePieces has demonstrated a history of acting in bad faith, and it's unlikely their reputation will recover. Whether you seek a managed service or a self-hosted instance, the market offers far more reliable and community-focused alternatives, making ActivePieces a risk not worth taking.

Jul 18, 2025To clarify this wave of unfair attacks for our awesome genuine users since most of these reviews are coming from buyers who didn't/don't utilize their accounts, here is the full story:
We recently changed our public pricing as we didn't try to make money from our cloud before, so we decided to run some experiments (which means our public pricing will keep changing now on). And because we create many more new products (Agents, MCPs, Tables, Todos) and are still building many new products, the LTD plans we sold on AppSumo are now closest to our public free plan.
Because we don't like Sumolings to be left behind, we decided to upgrade their plans to a much more enhanced one with capabilities from the new products.
For example, the current free plan (as of today) doesn't include Agents and includes 1 MCP server and 1 Table. While the Plus plan has limits on how many flows you can enable.
So Sumolings got Unlimited Flows and many Agents, many Tables, many. MCP Servers.
We got different kinds of feedback on the plans we offered to Sumolings after these changes and we're always listening to see how we can make the real users happy.
However, we were faced by a huge wave of aggressive, hostile and personal attacks from other users who aren't using their accounts and don't care about the product moving forward, many of them wished the company shuts down (while they're getting much upgraded capaibilities than what they bought), most likely because there is an AppSumo 60% money back guarantee if the company closes down.
We're growing very fast, and shipping many new products. If you'd like to use Activepieces as a product and be part of a constructive community, you're welcome. Otherwise, you're not.
Summary of changes:
- No single LTD account was downgraded or whatsoever.
- All LTD accounts got features that weren't part of the original deal.
- We reviewed the terms, the deal and all the details with the AppSumo team.
- We have many happy LTD and non-LTD users.
