Migrating From iFinance 5 on Mac: Very Promising, But Needs Improvements

My wife and I are founders and operators of a small nonprofit, and obviously need a means of tracking our finances. Since launching in 2023, we've used iFinance on Mac and have been generally happy, but it does require a monthly subscription to connect to our financial institution and it requires manually assigning transactions to expense categories.

After logging in to Adams by Tyms, I was able to quickly train it to categorize my expenses. That's the good news. The bad news is that importing 2 1/2 years of financial transactions was not pain-free. The import tool would only reliably handle probably 30 transactions at a time, so I had to break my CSV into multiples and work thru it carefully. But once the transactions were finally imported, the transactions were indeed properly categorized and the balance matched my bank's balance.

I do wish there was a little more granularity for categorization, such as sub-categories for expense accounts. I can easily categorize expense/advertising, but it would be nice to at least go one level deeper such as expense/advertising/LinkedIn or expense/advertising/Google-Ads, etc. Our charity also makes Grants and Contributions to other charities, so it would be nice to have a "Program Service Expenses" account with a "Grants and Contributions" category with a sub-category with the receivers' name.

And while I'm giving my wish list, simple sorting of table by column, would be nice. I'm finding it frustrating to hunt thru expense accounts looking for a specific accounting code. If I could just sort by code, it would be MUCH easier. And I would also like the ability to attach check images to line-item transactions. iFinance allowed that, and it was useful to see who checks were written to and when cashed, etc.

But so far, I'm impressed with the daily bank updates and automatic categorizations. I haven't played with AI chat too much but look forward to it when I have a bit more experience with the software. It honestly feels like early days for Adam by Tyms, but if they keep working on it, I'll be happy I jumped in early, and will also be very happy to add stars to my review.

**UPDATE 250831**
I've added three suggestions to the feature request site and all of them have already been elevated to PLANNED status, so that's very promising. I'm excited to see this software grow and improve. I will report back as progress is made.

Hi there,

Thanks for the feedback.

You can always use the "Feature request" on the app to log requests for improvements that our team needs to review and add to the roadmap (already took some notes here). We have always been working with the requests submitted by our users, as it makes it easy to manage new updates.

The limited transactions processing at a time is based on the current capacity of the AI to effectively deliver successful results. As AI technology grows, we are also growing by expanding the limits.

Do not hesitate to always drop our team a chat so that we can easily take all concerns into account, as it makes it easier and faster.

All good, cheers!
