First of all, this is a great deal. I am surprised so many people seem to be angry about it (especially given how fast the team was reacting to associated issues). For $49 (minus 10% for Plus users) you are basically at $45 for 4 tools, about $12 per tool per year, which equals about $1 per month of usage.

And let’s talk about the tools in this selection. There’s no way companies like Gumloop or Otter would ever go for a lifetime deal. These are not garage-built one-man projects, but established companies with serious funding. Gumloop is Series A and has raised $20M so far. Otter is Series B and has raised $75M. They have plenty of resources to acquire customers and they don’t need AppSumo for it.

So I would like to applaud the AS team. Guys, I don’t even know how you pulled this together. Well done and thank you so much. I hope there will be more bundles to come, even though the community reaction is certainly demotivating.

Dear fellow Sumo-lings, please be reasonable. There’s no sense in expecting established and well-funded companies to give months’ worth of API calls without at least getting payment information. All of the tools in the selection give AI credits to use, and those are worth well over $1 per month. Those who don’t want it can always cancel, and if users find the tool useful they might as well keep using it. There’s nothing wrong with that.

Yes, lifetime is cool, but how many times have you bought something and it didn’t survive? Or the tech became irrelevant? Or you thought you’d use it, but you didn’t? In that sense paying $1 per month for annual access is way better than investing hundreds of dollars in a tool that just sits there and does nothing. I hardly use half of my AppSumo purchases, and I am still not mad about it. The ones I do use make up for the rest.

Purchasing this bundle wasn’t without issues for me. I wasn’t able to activate Lex. It says wrong code, and AppSumo support hasn’t responded to my email so far. But they always do, so I know they will. I am not too worried about it.

Still, I am very grateful for the opportunity to get temporary access to established, well-documented, and actually useful non-buggy tools at $1 per month. I previously paid for Freepik and I was thinking about signing up for Gumloop for months, but it’s a bit steep at $37 per month for the cheapest plan.
