Q: Does it really work (automate) desktop apps (ie a desktop app is not something working in a browser) ?

It depends - if a desktop app has an API, like Spotify - yes, no problem :) If not, for now it's hard and close to not possible, but Claude new model has now computer support and we're exploring this!
The YT url is something connected to Internet access and yes Alice supports it via Firecrawl API.
