A Beautiful, Full Featured Ai Assistant (....if you have the time or skills?)

Before we begin Alice is definitely not a 🌮🌮🌮 product.....

Alice is a 🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮 product .... for the right person...

I’ve been exploring Alice for a couple of days now Tier 2, and it’s evident that it’s a beautiful platform with a lot of potential. The AI assistant is capable of answering questions/research, engaging in general conversation, and even creating actions or automations. However, my experience has been somewhat mixed...

Whilst Alice excels in many of these areas, setting up even the most basic automations via Make has been a challenge for me. Despite watching YouTube tutorials and being familiar with tools like Make, Pabbly, and Zapier, I found that Alice defineitely requires a solid understanding of JSON (despite the video host / developer convincingly saying "this is very simple/this is very easy"...I'd add if you understand JSON or are a dev). There are no “one-click” connections or solutions for setting up automations, which can be daunting.

Ideally, I’d love a flow where you tell Alice what you want to do, she creates and activates the snippet, and you simply set the webhook in your chosen automation platform and create automations like any other - Unfortunately, this hasn’t been my experience so far.

The platform itself is superbly designed, and Alice works well for many tasks. However, unless you know JSON it would seem that I'd need to invest significant time to learn something to save time?, it’s currently not a “one-click solution.” The authors clearly acknowledge this, but the point of an AI assistant should be to make life easier, not harder. As it stands, I’m struggling to use Alice for anything beyond a basic chat assistant/agent - for which it is excellent.

I’ll continue to explore over the 60 days and hope for simpler implementations & improvements (of which in the 3 days I've had Alice there's been already so fingers crossed)....I'm hopeful and really want Alice to be my daily sidekick however unless changes can make the connections more “point & click,” I believe wider adoption might be challenging for the platform, as I feel the general public, myself included, who may not be familiar with JSON will seek simpler tools / that can be quickly implemented and put into action despite the fantastic promise and unique proposition and potential Alice has...

To sum up I think I'd give it 5 tacos if I was a coder or dev..... So if you're a dev, coder, know JSON or have time to learn dive in...check it out you'll probably fall in love with Alice

However for me currently I'd love to give it 5 but 2 of these 5 would be "hopeful tacos" - Alice is great but it has to be simpler to get actions set up and running. If you know JSON it's perfect but for someone looking for an ai assistant to save time and automate tasks - adding the task of learning JSON and the somewhat protracted snippet setup is currently a step too far for me.....in it's current guise for me it's more of an "Ai Assistant with Actions for Coders"....If I have a Eureka moment I'll update my tacos...fingers crossed 🤞

Dear MrsJohnsonscat, thanks so much for this review!

This is all so well put that we should probably use your words to advertise Alice. When I read it I think we indeed should make a better job of crafting the offer and will improve it đź’Ş That being said I really hope that the more you use Alice, the less intimidating and difficult automations will become. To be honest, we've seen so many non-technical people using simple yet powerful automations in Alice that we're now convinced that it's only a matter of time and some dedication to accomplish something really remarkable. The thing is - in the current state of LLMs this is (in our opinion) the best way to handle agency, that just works. As a bonus, you gain automation superpowers and those are crucial skills for productivity. But I do agree - there's a learning curve.

I do want to offer you a gift though - please, email me and I will send you our 200+ pages e-book on our approach to automation and productivity. You will learn it our way, from scratch... of course, if only you're interested :) It's greg at techsistence com.

All the best!
