Q: Hi Bernd, excuse me, I am a newcomer in this sector and have some questions for better understanding.

I am planning to buy Alugha 6 stacks.

1- Video Encoding / Storage
We have a one time 60000 minutes (= 1000 hours) for video encoding and video storage. At first it sounds logical that these are the same values. What happens when I delete videos? Do I get credit refund for both, video storage and video encoding? Fictitious example: Current account balance 50,000 minutes of video storage and 50,000 minutes of video encoding. 5000 minutes of video will be deleted. After deletion, do I get 55,000 minutes of video storage and 55,000 minutes of video encoding in my account?

2- Please explain and point the differences between the three definitions for the three technical terms defined for monthly use?
- x minutes automated transcription / segmentation
- upload x minutes of video material
- stream x minutes of video material

3- Is there any branding information from Alugha added to the videos, which will be seen by clients?

4- Is it possible to use the videos from my cloud, for example from pCloud, to save video storage space?

Thanks so much, Teddy

A: Hi Teddy,

1) While deleting videos will also free your storage the encoding had to be done once. That is why we have to charge it and cannot give that back to the user.

2. While many providers give you the size of a file and views also in streaming we do the way we think is fair to the customer. You upload a file we have to encode and it does not matter if you did AVI, MP2, MP4, XviD or what ever... we encode the minutes of a video and we also stream the minutes.

So if you upload 6 videos and each is 10 minutes we have to send the audio file to our AI engine and then "listen" to it. In this case it would not matter if you talk 1 or 6 minutes in the video. We cannot count in words here as we do not know them by then.
This should explain to you the streaming and upload minutes I hope.
But pls keep in mind that a minute is for 720p. If you do 4k it is 4 Min.

For translations (which will come soon as well), this might be easier as we can count per word as we know this by then :)

3. You can change the colors, remove the alugha logo and also add your own brand to it. We also removed almost every tracking and cookies so that default cookie settings for embeding should work. Only thing that is in is when you click the right mouse button. There is alugha in. But that's all. Most people do not click that right mouse button on a video and based on our stats I can tell you that it is less than 0.1%

4. We only offer this feature to our enterprise customers to use their own storage and CDN if they really want to. This is not possible for any account below as we really have to do some work to get that per client integrated.

Let me know if that answered your questions. Otherwise... ask more :)

Thanks, for your quick answer, Bernd. Here are some more questions for items 1 and 2:

1- The price of $15 one time for 1000 additional encoding minutes is for ever or limited to a fixed date?
2. Sorry, still don't get the meaning of these three terms. Could you please give an easy explanation (for dummies) for the use of each, that I get the relation and the differences, please:
- x minutes automated transcription / segmentation
- upload x minutes of video material
- stream x minutes of video material

I'm confused too, about your statement "For translations (which will come soon as well), this might be easier as we can count per word as we know this by then :)"
Also don't get the relation.

Thanks, Teddy

You are welcome :)
I hate it so much at the Deutsche Telekom that some months I need 2GB traffic, some just 1GB and some times 4GB or more. But I have 3GB no matter what I have used :( This is cheating the customer imho. So when you buy that on alugha you can decide if you want to go monthly or pay once and then use it when you need it... It is on you.

15 Minutes video and you click to auto transcription == 15 min of the 1h. Transcription also includes the creating of segments and you do not have to do it.

Uploading a video with a duration of 15 Min is counted as 15 Min if it is in HD. If it is in SD it is counted as 7.5M and if it is FHD it is counted as 30 Min. No matter how and in which format YOU exported the video on your computer.

Streaming 15 min means that the video got viewed 15 min. So if the users stop after5 sec it is not count as 1 view, it is count as 5 sec.

While Speech To Text is Audio To Text we must encode and listen to the entire audio as we do not know upfront how many words are said. This is why 1 Min Video counts as 1 Min auto transcription.
With automated translation we know the words we have to translate, and so we can easily charge per word and not per minute. That makes it a LOT cheaper for you.

1- Bad phrasing on my side. I wanted to know, whether the price of $15 for 1000 additional encoding minutes (lifetime) is available for a limited time (perhaps only during this AS offer) or for ever?

Every offer we put into this deal will last till we do business together :) So you can always buy this extra stuff in the backend WHEN you need it and not before :)

Is it possible just to upload and host videos without encoding them? (for example, if they are not translated nor transcripted).

Founder

You could go the YouTube way. When you merge your YouTube videos to alugha we will not encode them again as they already exist in the needed file types. They will be hosted on alugha then, but we do not have to charge/cut any encoding quotes.
