Any.Don't
First thing's first: Pretty sad to see this on AppSumo in the first place after a previous deal with a certain group was arranged privately.
Also, I think people even remotely interested in this deal should understand that when the founder says he's a dinosaur, he means it.
Any.do is archaic in nearly every sense of the word. In a sea of modern project management tools and notetaking apps, Any.do feels like it's stuck in 2010. When you have products like Taskade entering the scene with aggressive development and flexibility, it begs the question: What is Any.do actually doing? Even taking a step back, you have products like Google Keep, which are completely free, that offer just as much, if not more.
Let's put things into perspective here: for Any.do "Workspaces" are a revolutionary feature to their ecosystem. Now, can everyone raise their hand if they have seen workspaces included with any other products that have hit the market in the last 6 months? It feels like there are so many common sense features that could have been implemented over time, yet what you're met with in 2023...is basic. Even little things like Custom Views, okay, so you can create a view of a particular status/section inside a board, but then you have this full screen view of only a singular column? How does that make sense? Why not go beyond that and actually allow users to add more sections for multiple boards so that they can actually see everything they need to at a glance across multiple workspaces? Things like that feel so common sense, yet it's completely absent from the platform and most likely will be for quite some time.
The value proposition of Any.do is very low, yet the price is rather high in comparison.

May 9, 2024Hey, this is Omer from Any.do. I wanted to share my perspective on this harsh feedback:
1. Any.do has been around for over a decade now and is the leading task management app with over 40m users. The reason we quickly grew and stayed the #1 app in the category for so long is exactly due to our obsessive focus on simplicity, speed, and serving our customers. To prove this point you can easily go to each one of the app stores and see that we have over 600K reviews with over 4.5 star ratings on avg.
2. Any.do takes huge pride in the fact that we're not overloaded with unnecessary features. We believe (and can back it up with data) that simple tools will constantly outperform any new shiny overly complex tool that comes to the market.
3. Any.do Workspace was finally released 6 months ago. Since then you can track the pace of updates and features here: https://www.any.do/blog/web-whats-new/ I would say that it's quite impressive for a team of 12 people that runs on 8 platforms.
4. Custom views are one of our most loved features. Our customers are obsessed with it. The use case you just mentioned with creating a dedicated view is already supported for months but it's far less popular compared to the people view mentioned. As I said, we care more about what our customers say and do than what others are doing.
5. In a market where there's a new team productivity tool every day, we have a few highly differentiated features that serve our customers exceptionally well. From the fact that we serve both individuals and teams exceptionally well to more specific features such as custom views to calendar integration to a powerful daily planner to our WhatsApp integration, and more.
Hope this clarifies our perspective,
Omer
