This product started off as a set of python libraries I built for myself when working as a freelance developer. I would use the libraries to quickly build websites, and any other spreadsheet related features.

My clients loved how insanely fast I was delivering results! Little did they know, it was all due to these libraries.

I then decided to build the libraries into a product and release it to my developer friends, on Hacker News, and Product Hunt. The product started getting used by all sorts of programmers for all sorts of use cases.

Some of these use cases include:
Saving data from Web Forms to spreadsheets or Google Sheets
Collecting spreadsheets from users on your own website or apps
Using databases as an API without building a backend
Prototyping websites rapidly
Using spreadsheet data for parts of your applications
Auto emailing spreadsheets to your teams
Sharing spreadsheet data easily in their organization

And many more.

Since releasing the product, we have followed a feedback oriented building process driven largely by our customers and users.

These are few things our users like about the tool😊
1. Built for Developers, By Developers: You can instantly Read, Create, Update and Delete data from your Spreadsheets. We have built a subset of SQL style querying to make all this easier. There are also pre-written guides and code snippets in Javascript, Python, Ruby and PHP so you can truly get started right away.

2. No-Code Custom Spreadsheet Importer: Collect spreadsheets from your users by creating a fully customizable spreadsheet importer to host on your own website or apps. Or use the one hosted on API Spreadsheets. It takes minutes to configure the importer, and copy and paste the code needed to use it.

3. Local Files, Google Sheets, Dropbox Spreadsheets, AWS S3 files, Postgres, and MySQL supported: This was super important to us. We believe to be truly useful you should be able to integrate and update spreadsheets and data from anywhere you have files. This is a non-trivial task, especially within a team. But with API Spreadsheets, you can literally drag and drop your local files, choose your spreadsheet using a File Picker GUI, or query your database and get started right away.

Basically, if there is anything spreadsheet related you need to build in your application or website, API Spreadsheets either supports it or will support it in the future.
