False Advertising / Disingenuous Pricing
So when you purchase this, you get access to the "playground" only, not the ai avatar tools. This is totally fine, but sumo stated this in the description 👉 "You’ll get everything you need to produce realistic photos of anyone, including friends, family, and public figures"
This just isn't true. You need to purchase access to the ai avatar feature called "tunes" in order to produce realistic photos of friends or family
Once you've gained access to the dashboard, you'll see that an avatar costs $7. They claim you will be able to train your ai and then get 64 images for the $7 purchase
I assumed that the 64 images received would be like the credits used on playground. But they aren't. They literally just give you 64 images without letting you adjust the prompts. This wasn't clear when buying - a complete waste of money
Now, if you want to make your own prompts, then you have to pay another $7 to receive like 8 prompts and 104 photos?
It's confusing, when I asked support about it, they sent me a link to their docs... so in order to truly understand the pricing for this, you need to dig through thousands of words of documentation?
Instead of going on the "credit" system found in playground, they change the rules for tunes. It's confusing at BEST and disingenuous at WORST
Here's what I think is going on:
- they are using app sumo for marketing (clearly) - but in order to recoup, they've added paywalls. THIS is totally fine. I get it, they need to make money
- BUT instead of making an easy to use product, they've added avatar addons, and prompt addons, and there's also a monthly product you can buy... and the inbetween products (like the $7 avatar product) are completely useless - so you're forced into paying another $7 to unlock prompts
- they used app sumo as their "lead magnet" - but instead of having such a fantastic product that convinces me to purchase more, they make me go on a paywall journey to get what I want
Why not make this easy?
I would have paid $50 to unlock avatar access and get a bunch of prompt credits. But instead they ask for $7 and then give me 64 useless images I didn't want?
Lol looking at their monthly plan, I don't even know what I'm buying. Does this come with the avatar "tune prompts"? Here's their highest grade monthly product 👇
6000 Image Generations
All AI Tools
Img to Img inspiration
All Post Processing Tools
Save Presets
Prompt / Image Search
Camera Shot / Angle
Explorer for Prompt Inspiration
Profile Showcase Page
API Access
I guess "all AI tools" doesn't mean "tune" tools? If I want my own avatars, I guess I HAVE to first buy 64 useless images for $7 and then pay another $7 to unlock 8 prompts?
I use a lot of SaaS products... this is one of the worst payment models I've ever seen.
Appsumo- please fix the description for the product
Artsmart- why are you making this so complicated? Just have 1 tunes product with "tune credits"
Transparent pricing always sells more than stuff like this :(

May 14, 2024Hey Goose,
Thanks for that, and fair perspective. We have technical limitations that just doesn't allow for an LTD and a sustainable business at the moment.
Fair point about the tunes image generations, at the start of the campaign we didn't have all the extra styles, we've added them over the last 4 weeks so the value of all the extra tune image generations become present really a week or two ago.
100% fair though we'll take a look at that if we ever decided to come back to appsumo.
Appreciate the feedback, really helps us tune up (no pun intended) the business model.
Cheers Goose!
