I've been using bCast for an almost 2 years after I purchased the Appsumo Lifetime deal. After previously using Anchor (a good service, however their business model is based on getting you to pay extra money after 6 months when your podcast begins to grow), we decided to switch platforms and found bCast, which is a great platform that has been improving almost daily since it was started in September 2017. I particularly like how they have implemented Spotify integration in just a month or two of having been on the market, so this is amazing! THE STRONG SIDE OF BCAST One of the most difficult things about operating a podcast platform such as bCast is figuring out how to cater to an international audience by delivering a large quantity of huge media files, faster than your competitors, at the click of a button. It can be challenging at first without scaling your own systems and infrastructure in advance to prevent having to revisit your structures in the future, but it's worth it in the long run. By 2021, Bcast hosted over 145,000 audio files. If you tried listening to them all back-to-back (yes, that does mean all those past guests!) it would take over 35 years! They also transported 39 terabytes of file data within just 7 months of launching! There are many things that need to be taken care of when it comes to catering to customers. But when you're on the development side, it's also important for the product not to stand still. They've found that adding new features continuously since they launched has been great for keeping certain factors fresh in the minds of theirs customers and sponsors. Some of the previous features they have added to bCast include midroll audio inserts and a new analytics revamp. One of those additions was very technical like the latter, but it’s safe to say that adding these features must have been challenging for their team nonetheless! Bcast analytics database holds over 45 million rows as I write this, growing by over 100 rows per minute. But they are also happy to share with us, the new version 2 of bCast, there is now a fresh, modern user interface! bCast is like a soap opera. The cast changes with every new actor that comes on board and sometimes actors leave the show for good or are killed off, but there’s always someone new to take their place. So far, they’ve had over 1,200 internal versions of the bCast code because that’s how the entire team works – constantly rewriting and improving the project by adding features with each new version they release. Thankfully, their awesome development team has taken care of everything as they continue working hard to deliver yet another great product. THE LTD ISSUE. Recently, the owners of Bcast received a lot of backlash from users upon the announcement that the LTD was going to be discontinued. They were planning on eliminating this feature completely but were not able to ignore outcries from users who found the change unappealing. The site owners listened to their
