You'll be forced to do what they deem best.
Where do I start?
Getting past the fact you are forced to connect this to a shop instantly before being able to do anything whatsoever, and told rather forcefully that if you don't the account is deleted within 15 days... well... let's skip that small detail.
The overall plugin doesn't seam the worst! For a coffee shop I had high hopes for this (especially for the name), however I quickly went away from it.
For one the plugin isn't while labeled, and shouts "This rewards program is powered by Beans" on the reward and redeem pages.
It also tells the visitor EVERYTHING, like come on... Maximum discount redemption, point to $/£ conversion, etc. I get this is useful info but we should have the option to display this info, no?
Another issue I had was you cant change the conversion rate, for example 100 beans/points is always £/$ 1... So regardless of your currency etc thats an issue...
Why? I'll explain.
'Beans' forces you to have the minimum points given away it decides is best for you, when I questioned this I was told its to "stop spamming"???... I know I was confused too.
An Example of why this is a big problem for us...
Sign up reward - 100 points
Instagram sign up - 50 points
Facebook sign up - 50 points
Twitter sign up - 50 points
Birthday - 200 points
So all the above are 'minimums' it allows you to enter into the system... Let's say I sell a bag of Coffee for £/$ 6.00 to Barry who's birthday is next week... I've just given Barry £/$ 4.50 of our £/$ 6.00 Order. Giving me a 'profit' of £/$ 1.50.
And I cant change this because it's spamming... I could remove the rewards but then its easier to just remove the plugin as it's basically the same equivalent.
Being called 'beans' you'd think they'd make this friendly for low cost products, I was told I could set a maximum redemption and that would stop them using all their points, but another problem with this...
Let's say you've recommended 5 people and have 1000 points, and then I say you can only claim 250 per order, you'd rightfully be annoyed and kick off.
Really confused. Product has great potential but I'll find something else.

May 9, 2024Thank you for your interest in Beans. I am happy to address your concerns here, but it is best to reach out to our support team at hello@trybeans.com when you need help with the setup so that we can help with tailored solutions.
- Shopify requires us to delete merchants' data when they uninstall the application. That could explain why you received the email notification. Please note that if your subscription is still active, your account will not be canceled.
- Rewards pages are just static pages on your website. "Power by Beans" can be easily hidden using a CSS snippet. You can reach out to our support team if you don't know how to do it.
- In regards to "it also tells the visitors EVERYTHING". I believe you are referring to the help section of the rewards program page that outlines how customers can use their points. The help section is entirely editable in the admin interface and you can edit all the text to whatever you would like it to be.
- I believe all the other questions are specific to your current use case and how you would like to set up your rewards program. It is best to reach out to our support team for a tailored solution. There are many redemption and configuration options available and we also have many merchants with low AOV using Beans and earning a lot of money with it.
