I wonder how do the people I tag get notified about a comment? Do they have to be a Beep user to get notified?

There are multiple ways to notify people.
- First of all if they are a Beep user and you tag them, they will be instantly notified directly in their browser since Beep works like a real time messenger. Just like if they would receive a message inside any other app.
- If they are not a Beep user you can still share the comment with them via a link, or you can also enter their email and an email will be sent to them.
- In addition to that we also have deep integrations with multiple tools. For example you can connect Jira, and then when creating a comment you will be able to tag and notify your Jira teammates directly within Beep inside the comment box.

Yes, tagging a user (typing "@" followed by the recipient's username when creating a comment) is only available when sending comments to a registered Beep user. Upon sending, they will receive a pop-up notification with a sound on the upper-right hand corner of the browser (on which they have Beep installed). This pop-up will include the name of the sender, a preview of their written message, and options to view the message.
If they do not have their browser open at the time you send them the comment, they will not receive any notification. Only when they reopen their browser will they get a notification saying they have beeps (comments) to read. The Beep icon on the extension toolbar will also have the word "new" on it so they can't miss it!
Non-users, although they can't be tagged, can be sent comments through a link or via email. Link sharing is extremely easy and if the person is regularly active on any messaging platform like Telegram, Whatsapp or Slack with notifications on - it has a similar instant effect.
