Could be based on the data itself or the size of the file in terms of rows and columns. Yes there's technically no "limit" of cells in google sheets, except around 2 to 5 million cells it becomes slow. and upwards of that could hang as you mentioned. Perhaps I would look into how the large csv files were created in the first place for ways to parse it then and snip out the parts you don't need. I don't think Better Sheets is going to help you at all.
