sheets, I would like to know what are your thoughts on using the Frontly App along side with bettersheets, to offer easy to use internal-use Apps to clients. is Frontly a good fit or we don't really need it?

May 15, 2024A: I have never use Frontly, but looking at their page and value proposition, I'd personally just use a nicely designed Google Sheet in nearly every single case. Google Sheets are ubiquitous. People know how to use them if they are just looking at your analysis, or dashboard. A dashboard, I hope, is easy and simple to make once you go through my short course on Dashboards in Better Sheets. My theory is that you'll end up back in sheets anyways doing the number crunching, and why have a 3rd party app beyond your own google sheets to show what essentially is the data that is in a Google Sheet.
I personally have made dashboards, and client portals inside of sheets, for a marketing campaign that the client was paying $250,000 for. You'd imagine that that client wants a fancy schmancy looking client portal. But no. A Google Sheet with automatically imported logos and the right data in the right place is absolutely perfectly fine and useful. No need to give a login, just share a sheet. No need to explain how to use the portal, just look at the sheet.
Design the sheet in a way to make it easy to view, and use. And everyone is happy.
But sure there are probably some instances when you want to not share a sheet, but rather something else. Frontly looks a bit too much though.. I don't know. I'm totally guessing here but I don't think you'd need AI to be able to plug your data into a template. Glide, Sheet2Site, Softr, SpreadSimple, and sure I guess now Frontly, all allow you, and empower you to use sheets as a database, and display that information in a different way.
I also have a few tutorials on how to embed data from a sheet into a site. So you can have basic HTML, or even use a landing page builder like Carrd to show your data. In my embed tutorials you can see me use Carrd. Nocode landing page builders are great for many use cases! I use them too.
Hope this helps.
