You can set a maximum request timeout for your monitor. In case the URL takes longer to load, the request will timeout and you'll get alerted.
Alternatively, a more advanced setup is to connect the free tier of an APM such as New Relic and create an alert to get notified when your Apdex score decreases significantly.
