I think the AppSumo video really undersold this tool. I've been a happy UpTimeRobot (UTR) user for years, and thought I would just try BetterUptime to see if it could match UTR feature for feature, but I am pleased to say it completely blew UTR into the dust! There is just so much power under the hood of Better Uptime that I immediately switched all our app and server monitoring over to Better Uptime within an hour!

Seriously, if you are running a suite of mission critical servers, and you have a team looking after your assets, then you should get this tool. Particular love the escalation rules and the integration with your Calendars to work out alert and escalation procedures within your response team whenever anything goes wrong.

Email, SMS and voice alerts worked for me here in Australia too, so I was incredibly happy with that. The only thing I would wish for is if they could have an HTTPS POST whenever an alert happens, but I do see that they have a Webhook feature as well as a Zapier integration, so I will experiment with that to see if it can give me what I need (which is alerts sent to our AWS SNS service via Lambda, as I have a lot of our other tools do at the moment). My main reason for that is that we use that service to send 'critical notifications' to our phones which overrides the iPhone's "do not disturb" mode at night.

Other than that one tiny thing (which is probably there anyhow), this is a fantastic product. The interface is excellent, the suite of integrations is rich (hooked it up to Slack in seconds), and the fact it has a status page and heartbeat monitoring as well means that we can shut down a couple of other services we use to save money. If you are serious about server monitoring - then don't miss out on this deal.
