Writing full time has many challenges, many of which involve organization and research. When I discovered Blogely, it seemed like the developers read my mind and addressed the challenges I was facing one by one. The software they created is a remarkable tool for writers; freelance, professional, casual, or daily business.

It is a bit difficult to know where to start with Blogely. It is deceptively powerful. Saying that I’ll start with the interface. It is clean, crisp, and uncluttered. Controls are logically laid out, so getting started is easy.

Perhaps my favorite aspect of Blogely is its research tools. There are two research modes: research one website at a time and Research Documents. In the first, you search for information about your topic. Using the Blogely Chrome extension (you add it in your Profile settings), you grab the information you need by highlighting it on the webpage. Save your selection, and Blogely brings over everything, including images and graphics. Blogely will not bring over any content that has been restricted by the site owner.

Research Documents can be standalone. You type in your search terms, and Blogely brings back the first 100 search results. It automatically displays the first 10 in a neatly arranged layout with summary information. Click the expansion arrow, and you will see the entire contents of the webpage! Click on Analyze, and you can now access all 100. SERP made simple! You can create a research document as the final product or use it to support other work. There is a slew of additional goodies, including statistics, questions, and common keywords.

How do you use your research? You can use what you find as quotes, references, and so forth. Simply position your cursor in your document, then click/drag content to insert it. Blogely even highlights text you have used, so you don’t duplicate it accidentally.

Say goodbye to misplaced files because organization is another strength for Blogely. Everything and I mean everything, is retained in the Blogely app. Images, graphics, charts, documents, videos, and so forth are kept in the Library. Research other than Research Docs is held in Notes. You can link anything to any Block, so you can find it later. You can create standard content and use it as a digital signature or boilerplate for press releases.

There is way too much to the app to cover in this review. So, my bottom line with the app is this, it works the way I do, automating a lot of the more time-consuming chore, so I can do what I love, write. If you are serious about upping your writing game, give Blogely a shot.
