Good Ghost alternative for new sites
I have to admit I bought a code just to see the tool for myself after such polarizing reviews in both directions. I'm glad I did but have learned to be very tempered with my enthusiasm.
BlogHunch is pretty much a Ghost clone with the ability to sell a couple more items that just memberships. You can also build courses and e-books and sell them. But they have to be built in BlogHunch. You can make articles series and newsletters, but they don't seem distinctly sellable and are part of your overall publication. There's no digital download product type... so there goes that, unfortunately.
I really think to improve beyond a mere Ghost clone, the following need to happen:
1) The ability to sell digital downloads. PDFs, images, videos, Excel files, Illustrator/Photoshop... it's big business selling these things, and it'd be super easy for BlogHunch to pull off. (Maybe even another type for selling software licenses... again, would be easy.)
2) BUG: Create the ability to edit course modules. You can't edit, delete, or reorder them. When I created one, BlogHunch had a glitch that created two identical modules... I can't do anything to get rid of the duplicate or even rename it to use it later. Start from scratch or reach out to support, I guess? Not very polished. The ability to edit, remove, add, move, etc. modules is a basic requirement for courses.
3) Bring on that Drag & Drop builder for pages! Implement that correctly and you seriously level up.
4) While we're designing... we need the ability to code and import custom themes, buy/sell themes, or maybe even use that fancy drag and drop page builder that's coming soon to build our own themes.
All in all, BlogHunch is enough to get started if you're building a new site as an MVP, proof of concept, or somethign similar, but if you have any type of time or money investment into WordPress, Ghost, etc. then it's not quite ready for you to consolidate here yet. With that said, there's a large of potential upside if the team remains dedicated, honest, and supportive.

May 9, 2024Thank you so much for such an amazing review and the feedback. We are indeed quite inspired by Ghost especially the process of sending and managing newsletters.
Digital products have been recently introduced and we are actively working on them to make them completely bug-free and ready to roll. It's our topmost priority right now.
We will stay dedicated, honest, transparent, and supportive to each and every user of ours. We are not stopping until it becomes the Shopify for creators. 🙏
