My experience (Tier 5)
Many times I consider writing a review on AppSumo but end up postponing it. This time, I felt I should join other reviewers to share my impressions. I chose Tier 5 on AppSumo, and even in the early setup phase, it’s clear BD is built for quick launch: you start with a ready-made directory foundation, then customise categories, listings, and membership flows instead of building everything from scratch. Tier 5 also offers plenty of scope for scale (high member limits) and includes more advanced options like developer tools plus Zapier/webhook support, which makes automation and integrations feasible as the site grows. I selected Tier 5 because I felt it would suffice for a long time. Should I exceed its membership limitations, I would then consider upgrading.

What stands out
• Fast “time to first version”: Pre-built structure + templates make it achievable to publish a functional directory in a day and iterate from there.
• Strong membership + monetisation core: It’s designed around free/paid memberships, recurring billing, and member management rather than treating those as afterthoughts.
• Lots of flexibility without coding: Users often mention the balance of features and usability, especially for non-developers who still want a robust platform.
• Responsive support: I found reassurance in several AppSumo reviewers who consistently highlighted quick, helpful support interactions.

Minor cons (so far)
The platform is feature-rich, so there is a learning curve if you want to utilise everything to its full potential (but the depth is also the point). Also, if you’re extremely design-picky, you might find some layout/design constraints compared to fully custom development.

Overall, BD feels like a practical, business-ready directory/membership system—more “launch and operate” than “tinker forever.”
