Q: Google translation API cost
i saw in another post that you will not support anymore the translation costs, and we need to connect our own API. so it mean that if we have a website with 200 blogs articles of 1500 words ( 12000 charcaters) and want to translte in 3 languges, it will cost us 12k char x 200 blogs x 3 lang = 6,4M characters.. the cost through google translate API is 20$ per million cahracters.. wich brings the translation for only 3 languages to the roof.
Can you consider yandex as API tranlsation that is 6-7 times cheaper and perfect for trnalsations via API.
thanks

Nov 6, 2024A: Only Google Translate for now.
We have manual translations that are free. Automatic instant translations we supported for a long time for the entire infrastructure but we changed that recently.
Google Translate offers 500k words or free which is enough and more for the regular websites in 2-3 languages.
$20 per million characters is peanuts, that will translate your big website in 3 languages instantly for $120 and it's a one time only payment. Well worth it in my opinion.
No yandex integration planned sorry.
Ok but at least, allow is to change the URL slug to make it fit with the language and also translate the metadata and alt text for pics in the languages also
Otherwise there are canonical problems and google takes randomly pages to rank them.. you it's happening now with all the websites. So if we pay, at least make that is useful š
- the slug stays the same we don't have language specific slugs (maybe in the future)
- metadata and seo titles can be translated
- I think what we have right now is more than others have and it's very useful already
- metadata and seo titles can be translated
-> i dont see how we translate metadata for each language, do you have a link to show where?

-> sure , for me just i dont see where to transalte the metada to avoid problems with SEO ranking in google and cannoncical problems also.
