Honest review from a long time Brizy Cloud user

As a business that has used Brizy weekly for five years, I’ve witnessed both the positives and negatives of this platform and what it can offer entrepreneurs. Let’s start with the positives. The product significantly simplifies the process of building attractive websites. If you lack a background in HTML or web design, as was the case with several of our team members responsible for updates, you’ll find it relatively easy to get a decent website up and running quickly.

Now, let’s move on to the negatives, of which we’ve experienced many while using this platform:

Website load speeds are very slow. The company is aware of this issue but has been slow to make tangible improvements. Many other Brizy users have raised this concern, but if you require fast-loading websites, Brizy will leave you disappointed and frustrated.

The leadership’s willingness to engage with customers directly and resolve issues is poor. On several occasions emails to senior leadership have been ignored and unrespond to when feedback has be critical of practices and outages. If you encounter serious issues that require escalation, expect radio silence from senior leadership—they, in our experience, did not respond, even after many chases which is simply unprofessional and a reflection of the company's actual values.

Broken promises: We invested hundreds of hours migrating our old website to Brizy. Their 2020-2021 version of their site had many limitations, which they decided to overhaul their platform to address. They initially committed to migrating our site to their new platform but later reneged, leaving us stuck on the old platform with no search function for visitors and no straightforward upgrade path. If they introduce another major platform upgrade, you could face hundreds of hours of manual migration work if they choose again to not migrate your website to the new architecture.

The GUI in several places is clunky and not intuitive. Moving assets between different pages is cumbersome.

The save function after 5+ years is still (as of Nov 2024) unreliable. Several team members have experienced multiple instances where hours of work on a page were lost because the system failed to save changes, even after clicking “Update” (the platform’s save function). This recurring issue has persisted for years and has caused significant headaches during critical product launches. They also don't support multiple editors on a page at once and will spontaneously reload the page if it thinks anyone else has edited the page (even when they haven't).

No auto-saving or rollback functionality. Brizy lacks the ability to auto-save or revert to previous versions of a webpage. This means that if a save failure occurs, you risk losing all your progress and having to start over.

Cumbersome management at scale. Managing websites with hundreds of pages becomes a challenge. The UX doesn’t scale well, making large-scale site management frustrating.

No native search function for the cloud version. This is a significant headache when users cannot easily find content on a complex site.

No automated backup capability. You cannot back up the website via scripts or automated processes, posing a serious business risk and the manual backup of a site is super slow and can frequently 'stall'. In the event of a cyberattack or major outage, you could lose your website with no way to restore it.

Slow customer support. Compared to other web hosting companies, Brizy’s customer support is sluggish, and the level of helpfulness varies depending on the agent you get. It could be greatly improved.

Difficult migration process. If you ever decide to leave Brizy, migrating to another platform will be an arduous and complicated process, which seems designed to lock you into their ecosystem.

Who is Brizy suitable for? If you have a small website with very few pages, Brizy is likely a good fit for you. The learning curve for basic tasks is manageable, and it can meet the needs of small-scale projects.

Who is it not suitable for? If you require a scalable site capable of handling hundreds or thousands of pages, with professional and efficient management tools, fast editing capabilities, rollback functionality, reliable saving mechanisms, quick load times, excellent customer support, and robust backup options, Brizy is not a good match. Based on five years of daily usage, you are likely to find its many shortcomings frustrating, and so will your visitors, who will suffer from painfully slow load times.

In summary, while there are several aspects of Brizy Cloud to like, particularly for small-scale projects, the platform struggles significantly as your website scales. Issues that are minor for small sites become major pain points with your website grows. I wish I could offer a more positive review, but our experience with Brizy Cloud has highlighted too many limitations to recommend it for anything beyond simple use cases.
