Lucky_TeacherQ: High credits & low resolution?
I just saw a video created that cost 600 credits for 10 seconds? That’s more than the 500 per month allotted. That means if I’m lucky I can produce one AD per month on the first tier.
Why is the credit usage so high? Why is the resolution so low at 480p or 720p? It should be a standard 1080p or higher.
I’m baffled by the high credit usage and low resolution…

Sep 8, 2026A: Yes, I understand the concern.
The reason the credit usage can look high is that the underlying video generation models are still quite expensive, especially at higher resolutions.
For example, Seedance currently costs around $0.50/second for 1080p generation. So a 10-second 1080p video can cost around $5 just from the generation model.
Our plans start at $49, so we have to balance the amount of generation we can provide with making sure the Lifetime Deal remains sustainable long-term. We don't want to offer something that looks great initially but isn't financially sustainable for us to maintain.
That said, 1080p generation is coming soon. We are working on adding it, particularly for users who bring their own API keys (BYOK), which will give users more flexibility with higher-resolution generation.
We are also continuously looking at ways to reduce the credit cost as the underlying models become cheaper and more efficient.
Ok so if we bring our own BYOK, we are able to do as much as we want on 1080?
Yes.
1080p quality and 30 sec length with seedance 2.5. Both available right now with BYOK.

That completely makes sense regarding the cost structure of models like Seedance.I would love to take advantage of the BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) option to unlock 1080p and get the 2,500 monthly credit tier. However, fal.ai can still get quite expensive at scale for retail developers. Are there any plans to expand the BYOK settings to allow..

Providers like ofox.ai or Siray offer the exact same top-tier video and image models (including Seedance and H3 Max) at roughly 15% to 50% lower costs than fal.ai.Being able to route our own keys through a more cost-effective provider would make BuzzHooks the absolute perfect long-term solution for our ad production. Looking forward to the 1080p update!
