CabinPanda? More like TrashPanda

Well, I just wrapped up a 1:1 comparison of QuestionScout and CabinPanda, since QuestionScout is returning with a LTD for their launch of 2.0, I figured it was worth taking a look at how the two stack up against each other.

I must say, I was excited for CabinPanda on the surface. I think the site looks great, and the general rule of thumb is that if the site has a solid UI/UX, then the product itself should as well since they can carry over those same design principles.
But that wasn't necessarily the case.

Let me address the elephant in the room - CabinPanda pitches itself as a "data collection" service, not necessary a form/survey builder, even though that's the bulk of what's offered. Why am I mentioning this? Because I think it negatively influences the core of their product and detracts from their USP. One would argue that *is* the USP, but after what I saw, I think there's a lot of internal confusion on what a "data collection" service looks like.

The forms were nothing terribly special. For example, a very simple functionality such as rearranging form fields is absent. If you make a mistake or change your mind about your workflow, it's essentially easier to nuke the form and start from scratch. Mustafa said that they're releasing that ability next wee, but I almost feel like that's Step 1 with any form builder, its absence for 2 years is disturbing. However, it's not the only feature that is absent or severely lacking. There were a lot of instances where the platform just disappointed - another example? The redirect URL is static, there is no routing based on logic. There are no variables or calculation as a result. Payments? Static.

The platform promises so much and underperforms in nearly every facet, it became frustrating to use at a certain point of just misstep after misstep.

As for the "data collection" side of the platform, that's basically "Analytics" and "Screen Recording." Screen Recording is nothing like I expected and it performed terribly - the rendition of my site was absolutely useless. It failed to show elements properly or in any meaningful way and the mouse tracking was atrocious; 'inaccurate' would be an understatement. Analytics is really weird. It's its own tab on the dashboard, but it just points you to your forms and then gives you a total of 5 blocks on a barren page. For a "data collection" platform, I would have expected more...data. I also don't understand the point of its placement. Why not just put Analytics under each form's "Submissions"? That would make the platform far more intuitive. If it somehow also accounted for Screen Recordings, then okay, but it doesn't - poor UX choice.

Overall, the platform was inferior to most form building platforms I've used over the years. The only reason I'm giving it 2 tacos is because I have to believe it'll evolve into something better, but I've sworn I'll never buy a roadmap again - so I'll be refunding this for now and check it out again before their campaign ends.
