Within the software development world, there are so many choices for project management apps its hard to define what's good for a usecase or product management. Big software co attempts to develop the best overall tools people can find out there. Like Notion, its all round encompassing. It can do anything. Only thing it can't yet do is taking Notion off the cloud and into offline work. Its a maze of templates just like excel sheets. A good overall tool. But when it comes to a specific usecase, its hard to take things to the next level.

As a typical customer, I use what's out there when its been well reviewed. As a tech enthusiast, I get excited when I sniff out shiny new gems and its going to be good. Calido is it. Project management app hasn't changed much since Microsoft project and Trello's kanban. Thanks to competition, it had gotten a ux facelift and the cloud server ran faster.

After taking Calido for a spin. I really like how its going to be moving forward.
1. The CTO is the cofounder and a data scientist for all his working life.
I love how academia dragons steps onto the wild lands of business. There will be a massacre and whole ecosystem will transform.
2. Project management and product management is very different. SO is their needs.
Project management has lot to do with deadlines, meetings and who is to do what. Product management needs more than that and many more, it needs ideas to stick to somewhere and slowly mellows. Ideas do not expire. It needs archives and a way to bring it back to the table 10 years down the road. These ideas will still be organic and alive, they can turn into products.
3. We are hoomans. Our ideas are fleeting.
By taking in and collecting customers feedback and turning into ideas, the product can level up. Its a great way to defend against an intellectual technicalities bubble of the design team.
4. Its all about product management. Product-centric. Idea-centric.
Eventually, a company will have 100s of products under its belt. Even Apple (when Steve Job was around) was known to have the least products SKU in the Fortune 500 companies, have all sorts of products and services now. Many of those products sits on the development shelf for a long time. Calido possess an open data model!!!! Imagine every single idea old and new are tracked by software. Each idea tag and indexed by software. That development shelf has unlimited storage.
5. Best of all, Cofounder Adil has a great and long record in product management
Insiders are the best. Especially when they are released from the corporate bureaucratic environment. Most went towards academia to teach and the students armed with their insights transformed the world.
