Q: Can you explain why you changed your name especially just days after this promotion ended?

Thanks.

A: Hey, Big Daddy -

Great question.

This summer while Noah, Jarrett, Nick, and the crew were prepping our big AppSumo debut, Steven decided to talk to a ton of our existing top users and ask them "What's the killer feature that has kept you here for 2+ years?" We thought it would be helpful to pass this along to the AppSumo team.

What came back from users was unexpected - in short: "there are lots of great features, but the thing that keeps me here is how I feel. At 3 pm I can feel overwhelmed like where-did-the-day-go!?! or I can feel on top of the world & happy. It literally comes down to whether I used this platform or not."

So we realized, we really should reflect that sentiment that the productivity boost is a side-benefit from feeling happy. We searched for a name that reflected "happiness" and landed on Sukha, which is the Sanskrit word for the happiness you feel when you're self-fulfilled.

We talked with the AppSumo guys who had already prepped all the great videos, posts, graphics, etc. that you see on our AppSumo page and we felt terrible asking them to re-do it all, so we agreed with them to hold off on the name change until after the sale was over (end of July).

If you have questions or suggestions or crazy/great ideas, I know Steven would love to hear 'em (Steven@TheSukha.co).

The name sounds like sucker... like I'm a sucker for buying it. The name switch after the appsumo deal seems to be mocking those who bought it by calling them Sukahs (suckers). You can see why all of us would be concerned.

I'm also guessing you didn't bother polling users about it either... because if you had that would have been the very first comment... that native English speakers (we don't speak sanskrit) would pronounce it similarly to "sucker" which isn't appealing at all. Centered is far better.

Thank you for your clarifications. While "centered" sounds too generic and have conocotation with "Self Centered" , l like "Sukha" a lot more. It sounds like a great brand name. And meaning is very deep. Ultimately we are after that one "happiness". Definitely , your app has given me some "Sukha" :)

I like the name change.
In Russian it means something different.
