A: Hi! Unfortunately, we are not planning on coming back to Appsumo. We decided on a relatively short campagin on here which has now finished and exceeded our expectations. We are very grateful for the continued interest in our product and the amount of feedback that we have received from the AppSumo community. However, we are now eager to bring ChartPixel to the next level and focus on releasing brand new features and charts, more advanced AI-assisted analysis options and integrations.

Q: Find correlations

I am testing your platform. Some features are great, but others are lacking. It would be awesome if users could describe what they are looking for in a chat form and if the system could find correlations and show a graph. In the "Data exploration" section, it often shows the message "Sorry, we couldn't find any charts for this selection." It would be great to be able to specify specific columns to look into, even if there is no correlation, and display data and a message indicating it is not conclusive. This is better than showing the "Sorry, we couldn't find any charts for this selection." message...
It would be huge beneficial if you could integrate ActivePieces into the open source platform. Many Appsumo members rely on this platform to integrate various apps, and it would significantly enhance the data exploration capabilities.

A: Hi Javier,

Thanks for your feedback! Promting is indeed in the plan for us. We started this development, but didn't want to rush it prematurely before the start of this campaign. However, it will one of the first features to come out after the campaign and we are really excited about this development.

With regards to data exploration, it's good advice. We have been continuously relaxing the conditions to plot charts with a user's column selection. If a chart is not drawn, it's usually that there is really no chart, for example, there are many categories or one sample size categoreis to display (we actually don't have a chart for it), too many NANs or all bars being equal etc. At other times, a user might get 20 or more charts with one selection and that's a lot to wheel through. However, as we expand our chart types, this feature will refine automatically. We were also thinking of a toggle option of "show all charts" or provide more meaningful messages why a chart generation for a specific selection failed.

Great tip also about ActivePieces and we haven't thought about them before. We are currently collecting all intergration requests. If you are happy, please send us an email with more info and how you would envisage to have ActivePieces integrated. As I understand it, you build a sequential flow communicating with various apps. This would require our prompting to be deployed I believe and our API exteneded to process requests.

A: Yes, you can embed in two ways:

a) Using our API, you can create new charts or retrieve any chart from your existing projects. For example, an interactive chart like this one: https://www.chartpixel.com/static/api/api_demo/qU9Rd0sH3TRtbZ3VBsJnAtTOjPlFDroY0js3CirK75A.svg or alternatively you can get a ready-made and stripped down html page from our API with the chart, title, subtitle, insights and so on.

b) You can directly embed ChartPixel via iFrame as we have not explicilty disallowed this via our server settings. However, if you plan to use ChartPixel with all features (e.g. analysis, forecast and so on) in your own app or service, we recommend to contact us beforehand, as we can i) provide a stripped down version of ChartPixel, for example, without sidebar and ii) whitelist your app in case our settings will change in the future.

Q: How many charts are displayed depending on the Tier purchased ?

A: The number of charts is independent of the tier. Generally, uploading a dataset that has several columns (and a good amount of rows) will produce 20–30 recommended charts that you will initially see in the recommended chart gallery when opening the project. You will get better charts if the columns have furthermore a good mix of different types, such as, categorical columns, numerical columns, booleans, dates, comments, and so on.

In addition to that, you can create as many new charts as you wish using the data exploration mode. In this mode, you can select up to any three columns, and all relevant charts are being created from your particular selection that you can browse through. Any chart that is created using the exploration mode can also be saved, downloaded, or edited at a later stage.

A larger dataset with 10 or more columns with mixed numerical types, text, comments, and so on will commonly produce thousands of charts. However, you will still see only 20–30 charts that are displayed in the recommended chart gallery, although they will have a higher overall quality and better insights since naturally there will be a larger pool that they have been drawn from.

On the other hand, if you drop only two or a few columns, you may sometimes still get a decent number of charts in the recommended chart gallery (even some very poor charts). They will be usually ordered by their insight quality. The reason for this exception is that many first-time users test our product with a low number of columns and rows first, or use some madeup data, and then become surprised that they don't see any charts when actually there are no correlations or patterns in the data that would support some robust charts and reasonable insights. Hence, we always recommend uploading data with a sufficient number of columns and rows.

Somone once told me that ChartPixel seems like a "Porsche" and you need to take it out for a test ride on an "Autobahn", instead of letting it in the garage and just revving up the engines. It works its engines more efficiently when uploading real data with a decent number of columns in tabular format. 😃
