Q: About ChartPixel's official website access conflicts with users' VPNs
I've noticed that ChartPixel denies access to users when their computers have their VPN turned on, citing security precautions. This request is clearly unreasonable.
Nowadays, most of the security vendors for Windows and Mac operating systems, such as Norton, Avira, BitDefender, ESET, etc., provide security and privacy protection for their users, including VPN, which has become a standard part of the user's computer and daily Internet access. At the same time, the threat of the digital world from all sides, obviously, when users only visit your site or use your services, to force them to turn off certain security services, lower their own security standards, obviously is not reasonable.

Aug 23, 2024A: Hi! As a data company we take security very seriously. We don't deny VPNs at all. We only restrict high risk IPs that are publicly listed as severely malicious, compromised (zombie bot) or associated with brute force attacks. We tolerate low risk IPs. The same is true for Google or OpenAI when using their services with a compromised IP, users get a managed challenge (low risk IP) or a restriction (high risk IP).
Sharing and using an IP through an VPN that is listed as high risk is not increasing your security standards. It creates additional legal, privacy and security risks, for example, harsher monitoring from the outside, or, in the worst case, attackers may have gained access to all traffic passing through. In other words, the message that you get, "If you are under a VPN..." is not against the VPN itself, but against a compromised IP which was likely provided by the VPN.
In fact, if your company uses a VPN, we actually recommend and endorse the use of it and offer additional services such as whitelisting or restricting access from outside your organisation. Furthermore, we can whitelist IPs when contacted and vettted by us.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused and hope that you can understand our views on this. If you wish your IP to be whitelisted, by all means, please contact us.
