I wouldn't necessarily say that or rule it out at least. I've bought a few items over time & In my experience I have seen and upgraded some products beyond whats offered on Appsumo that are still LTD. I would say alot move to the subscription model for obvious reasons once done with Appsumo but some mimic the offer for a further period of time for Appsumo-ers / LTD-ers, publicly i've seen it where it's still on LTD but sometimes it's just publicly subscription only after AS, while some even allow an indefinite upgrade path for early adopters to max out, which i guess gives them a set customer base for dealing with bugs and feature expansion. Sometimes you go through support to upgrade, sometimes the upgrading is built in. And then sometimes they do the rounds through other LTD platforms like Stacksocial etc.
