Useful and intuitive
For the price of Tier 1 you can't go wrong giving Chatbase a try. I have created bots for entire websites, for collections of medical research and for searching corporate documentation (all of those within 2 hours). Within the limits of Tier 1 it works very well and is very easy to set up. Some minor UI bugs *annoy* but will no doubt be fixed in future releases.
It may not be evident from the write-up on Appsumo, but you can instruct each bot individually on how to behave. You can tailor a very explicit prompt related to your subject matter and how you want it presented, just as in ChatGPT. This customised prompt is then applied to every enquiry. For me, this is a really valuable part of the offer.
Areas of improvement:
1. The answers are sometimes too general and do not appear to prioritise the data you have uploaded. For example, if you try the same prompt on ChatGPT, you get the same style of answer. This could be solved by a "Strength" slider on each category of data upload (web, text, pdf etc) which determines how much influence the uploaded data has on the result, similar to when you upload a sample image into an AI image generator.
On the other hand, if you pick out a header or specific question from within the data you have uploaded and plug that into the chat, it replies with very relevant answers.
2. It would be a great advantage to have a "Lossless text compression" function as an option on the uploads. This would really boost the value of the offer. I currently use other AI tools to compress the text without losing any semantic value, and it saves 80% of the space.
Overall, this is a simple, cost-effective tool that adds value to your websites or other "own data" e.g. load up all your HR policies. No doubt there will be many more. Trying ChatBot will educate you on choosing the best fit among those that come later. I bought a copy for my 13-year-old daughter to play with, as it is a useful educational tool.
I wish the developer would answer some of the 147 questions here on Appsumo, as his silence is a bad look. I guess he's been snowed under.
