My New Resolution

Let me just start this review by saying that the resolution of the recorded videos is...atrocious.
I don't know exactly what the output is, but it's in the ballpark of 480p with a really awful bit-rate. I can't send videos to clients using Clapboard because it's basically intelligible, you can't see granular details and the text is so incredibly fuzzy, good luck trying to show a client code using this thing. Unless there are very big pictures on your page you're trying to show someone, this is useless.

I use Nimbus on a daily basis and I have control over resolution, bit-rate of video AND audio, and more. I can quickly upload videos on my slow internet connection and send them to clients and they can see in detail what needs to be done, no issues whatsoever.

While Clapboard does have some really nice features in the back-end that make it attractive, it's 2020. Resolution is king. I'm not even asking for 4K like I can get in Nimbus, 1080p would suffice and with anything more than 5Mbit/s, it would be serviceable, but in its current state, I can't transition over to Clapboard while maintaining my standards in quality.

I see that they're working on a desktop app that will "solve" this, but once again, it's 2020, if I wanted to use a desktop app to record high quality video, I would just use OBS - I want an extension/platform that I can quickly and easily use, receive a quality output to share with clients, and no more.

I don't think the features outweigh the resolution here, because what good are features if your customer/client immediately closes the video because they can't see anything clearly?

Grim future for Clapboard/StoryXpress...
