Glad I Pulled The Trigger
I got ClickMoat after digging as deep as I could into the 21 different options on the market. When spam clicks and bots that run rampant on Google and Meta ruin your day, week, month and campaigns, you need to act on it.
Appsumo, as usual, is my go to marketplace to see if an up and coming SaaS product can fit the bill for our needs. This account says it is only from April 2024 but I have been using Appsumo since 2013, this is an account for one of our businesses. I am fine keeping our Tech Stack on all the monthly subscriptions but no lie, when you find an emerging developer that gets it right long term, the benefits are phenomenal.
I have been using ClickMoat for almost a month now, on a small and learning campaign in Google Ads, that we have been using for Testing Purposes.
Here is our experience with it to date:
Support for the issues you will read in the review has been fantastic, the founder Nirav, is on top of things and actively helps get his team to do what Everyone that is on Appsumo comes to do: work their product into a staple in their vertical. Which from my interactions with ClickMoat, shows me they are genuinely focused at doing exactly that. If you are on Appsumo and think you will pay 1-3 months subscription fees for a lifetime deal and then you give zero feedback that helps the developer work out the kinks, you have no idea what you're doing and need to educate yourself why this all exists. Help them out.
Onboarding - this process was not overly complicated but it was disjointed, which caused some confusion for me. This is where I had to first reach out for support, which I didn't know how to do (due to the Appsumo process in place, this looks to be different than what monthly subscribers go though). I came back here to find who to contact and reached out to Nirav, who got me what I needed very fast. They took my feedback on how to smooth that process out, which I hope they tweaked.
Functionality - We have noticed a definite improvement in the number of what we always suspected were fraudulent clicks. Google Ads own report showed 49.3% fraudulent clicks on their report. When you talk to any rep, they act like you didn't say anything, every time. Then you have to submit a "never-never" form and prove your case to them (like guys, your OWN form shows this, it isn't a number we got out of thin air). The patterns where this would happen have been pretty much eliminated. They only places we still have an issue are always the new keywords Google Ads constantly puts into the campaign each day (doesn't matter if you use Broad "Phrase" or [Exact] match, they still do this now. Yay for "improvements" by Google. Move the goalposts once again to suck more money for themselves while making the user experience worse for almost everyone else. Whole Separate topic).
Clicks Saved - ClickMoat tells us that in almost a month we have 15 clicks saved. They estimate this at 42 cents per click but our work is one of the, if not THE, most expensive CPCs in Googles world, where the auction can range from $2 to almost $50 per click. This depends on if you are advertising for Clicks or Conversions of course but the principle is the same. Googles mission is to blow through your budget and spend double that on a daily basis, like a drunk patron mindlessly hitting the slot machine button, spending money without regard. So ClickMoat has likely saved us quite a lot more than what they estimate.
General Value for the price - At Appsumo prices? Insane Value. At the monthly price the other 20 players in this space charge? We see the value on this side and think that if they keep improving the way they have directly communicated to us, that they will be top of the market.
Support teams - They have been extremely responsive. Is it 24/7? No they keep their own office hours, which is to be expected, they have families and lives like the rest of us. However the support has been based on the type of need. If it is systems related, it is handled fast. If it is general, it is done during their business hours. Personally I am not a fan of Slack at all, it just makes the whole experience seem even more disjointed but that could just be me. The result is that you do still get what you need.
TL;DR: This is a product that has helped us greatly. There are bugs and processes that need to be worked on and developed out but that is exactly why they are here. The responsiveness and grateful messages from the real user feedback, as well as the improvements we have seen, with the ones coming, make us think that we will have a winner on our hands for long term, when they are done. Glad we bought this deal.
