Get content from your clients!
First off, thank you to Laura for bringing this deal to Sumolings, and thank you AppSumo!
Having read a few of the reviews I'm struggling to understand why some have issues with this. Yes, like with many other WordPress plugins, some are going to be capable of building something similar, and yes, you could just create password protected documents or pages. But, this does so much for and it's all done for you out of the box!
This is a WordPress plugin, and an amazing one at that. It solves a problem and it looks stunning too.
Don't think by getting this that it's going to transform your agency/freelance life if you're not providing a good service in the first place, it isn't.
But, it is solving the massive issue that most of us struggle with, getting content from clients!
When you're sent content through text messages, email, personal Facebook Messenger etc. it's hard to keep track of. Having a dedicated portal for each client allows you to keep on top of getting their content as well as keep your clients updated on progress of their project and keeping all documents (proposals, contracts, invoices, deliverables etc.) together in one place.
It's going to take you a little time to get everything setup to fit with your processes but once you've done it once you can easily duplicate everything for future projects.
As well as this, your client gets their own area of your website and you get brownie points for looking like the awesome professional that you are.
You can also embed a video in each portal with a welcome message and instructions/any other information you want you client to know along with the next steps they need to take.
After listening to Laura speak on a few of my regular podcasts a few months back I started looking into ClientPortal and was planning on signing up at some point anyway. This is massively valuable to me and I can't wait to send it to a client. I'm also thinking about other potential uses (online courses?) and how my clients could benefit from using this in their businesses.
What I would love to see is either a support ticket system or integration with one as well as integration with some other products. For me that would be BetterProposals, ConvertFox, and maybe the ability to add Video User Manuals. This way those clients who rarely go to the backend of their own websites could use their portal for any help and training.
