Not ready for serious business. Huge potential though
Ok, as an agency, a white-label collaborative "portal" with client access to the project is a must, so I was enthusiastic about it!
Hundreds (if not more) have tried and failed to become successful with this difficult task , so in order to succeed, you have to be above the crowd.
Clinked is a mix of doing everything halved-baked in this matter.
- Guest access to documents is great ! (well, in fact, it's core feature now, now that Google Apps has made it mainstream). But .. impossible to get a link .. so impossible to share it along with my email I was writing to the client CFO. I guess I will attach a pdf instead.
- Share a whole folder to a temporary client stakeholder (let's say: the CEO) who won't bother create a credentials., but impossible to share a global access to the dashboard, so the global overview you tried to push with the client portal will fail to be communicated, and you are back to square one with google slides.
- Shared documents are great! But it's an outdated TinyMCE editor, instead of a full-flavored WIKI style like https://www.notion.so/ for instance ..
And don't hope for live autosave, so nothing important will be ever written here. (or lots of tears will be shed). Too dangerous for business matters ..
- Files /Folders are great! But .. why on earth .. having a different section for Documents and Pages, which are also documents? My users don't get it, the client won't get it, it makes no sense (Ok, so for this "PR release summary", it was a word file? so I guess I should like into Documents ? Ho no, it was written in "Pages" instead so the search box didn't find it .. ). It should/must be merged in a single Document section.
- Notifications are great ! But missing Slack/Teams integration lead to even more email than before ..
- Having a translated interface in my language (FR) is rare enough for a product in early stage , that's great ! And quite good translation, it seems there was a human on top of the machine. Unfortunately, 10-20% of the strings are not translated, so I can't send this to client, impression it conveys is worse than staying in english.
- Tasks are great! But not integrated with the rest of the platform .. (impossible to display a task list of a category in a page, for instance)
- Calendar with ical link being published to be imported in google calendar is great! But it's not the other way around...
And I could go long all day. Good ideas, half-baked. With a UX not on par with the market. (although Tasks list with categories is pretty nice to look at ! although not so great to interact with it) So huge progression margin to be hoped, if they go fast enough.
Well, for the price I don't regret betting on it, the risk is low and I won't refund.
But IMHO, not ready for serious business at this stage, won't risk sending an access to a client, too many confusing things, but completely usable without any found bug for internal use.
