Lacking API Access Despite a Blog Post Explaining How to Use It
Short review: the only way to add new contacts from outside the platform is manually. You cannot add them through the API.
Longer review: do you want to add contacts automatically? Do you want to connect B2B lead generation platforms to Closely? Do you want to track activity across your other platforms so you can align it with Closely’s actions?
For anyone who knows how to use an API, this should be basic functionality. Yet, even though this article explains in detail how to use their API, those features are simply not available.

I wasted hundreds of dollars, and now I have to buy SendPilot instead, because it actually lets me add contacts through the API. That way, once a contact is created in Apollo, I can automatically send it to SendPilot.

Mar 13, 2026Hi there,
Thank you for your feedback and for pointing this out.
You’re absolutely right that API access is an important capability. We’ve actually received similar requests from several users, and because of this demand, API functionality is already planned and scheduled to be developed in the coming month.
The article you referenced reflects functionality we’re actively working toward, and we’re currently prioritizing it so users will be able to connect Closely with their existing workflows much more easily.
We truly appreciate feedback like this, as it helps us prioritize the features that matter most to our users.
