Q: Pre-purchase Question – Shopify Integration & Bot Protection Scope
My Shopify store was recently hit by a major bot attack involving:
* Hundreds of fraudulent checkout attempts (credit card testing)
* Thousands of fake customer account creations, which also affected my mailing list
I currently have manual payments only enabled just to stop the bleeding, but I’d really like to reopen my checkout safely.
**A few quick questions:**
1. Does the Cloudfilt Shopify integration block fake customer account creation, or only checkout abuse?
2. Will I need to adjust DNS settings or use an external CDN, or is the Shopify plugin fully self-contained?
3. Does the plugin run smoothly with Shopify’s default checkout, or does it require checkout extensibility or Shopify Plus?
Thanks so much, and I'm looking forward to your response!

1/ Yes, that’s our primary goal, only real customers will be able to access your site.
2/ The best approach is to route traffic through CloudFilt to ensure both front-end and back-end protection.
3/ In your case, the most secure option is to go through the CDN/WAF to be fully protected, 100%.
Thank you for your very relevant questions. You can count on CloudFilt to stop bad bots.
It would have been timely to have pointed out to the customer that CloudFilt only works with Shopify Plus plans.
#CloudFilt is compatible with Shopify Plus, which allows personalized management of SSL certificates and direct integration of our CDN/WAF.
However, standard Shopify (non-Plus) requires Shopify to exclusively manage SSL certificates, preventing direct interposition of our CDN/WAF.#
Yes! Thank you for highlighting this. It would have saved me days of grief if they'd told me upfront when I asked explicitly that CloudFilt--while possibly a good solution for others--isn't the right fit for me.
