Amazing Server Management App and Awesome Support
I'm leaving my original review below, but I can't say I'm shocked that this company has basically broken about every promise they made. As such, I have reduced my rating to 1 taco (would give zero if I could). It's not nice or a good business practice to tell people something will be included and then say they want money for it. I'm done with this company unless they follow through with their promises.
I'm a WordPress user for nearly 20 years, and have used cPanel for most of those years. I have tried the cloud hosting in the past and it was too technical for me.
Enter CloudStick, and I have only been a user for a few days, but my experience so far has been great. I have already deployed a Linode server, integrated Cloudflare, and have 2 WordPress sites, one of which is a WP Multisite with 2 additional domains.
I got stuck on a few things such as Multisite domain mapping (just had to add the domains to the site that I installed multisite on), WWW redirection which support helped me with an easy to follow solution.
Pros:
- When comparing to other similar solutions such as Cloudways, the pricing is quite good as you just have to buy the server at the cloud provider, in my case, Linode. It would have costed more than twice as much per month through Cloudways.
- The CloudStick server management app is very good. I did get a little confused whilst trying to jump around to various menus and sub-menus to find the settings I needed, however the app is very fast and responsive so it did not take me long to find out. I am sure they will tweak the UI as time move forward.
- Support is super responsive and I never had to wait very long for a response.
Cons
- Not a huge negative, but I feel like the knowledgebase can be expanded to include some of the more basic technical stuff that someone might need to know when they are new to this kind of hosting setup, such as the things I mentioned above about the WWW redirection, and domain mapping for WP Multisite (the solutions were very easy but having guides would have saved me a few hours).
- While the app is great, I do feel there could be some UI improvements, like adding a few options when installing WordPress to create a WP Multisite (this had to be done manually via wp-config.php which was fine, but some tools have a way to do this from the control panel or app). I think there could be a way for them to also have a setting for redirecting the www to non www site (or non www to www version). Again these are not deal breakers and very minor things to consider. I have confidence they will improve things like this in the future.
If you are thinking about buying this deal, the only thing you would want to understand first is that this is a server management app and not a web hosting provider. You'll need to bring your server to the app, such as Linode or others. The savings is you are paying for the server management app as a LTD instead of it being added as a monthly fee. For example, if you go to Cloudways, the same Linode server I'm paying $12/mo for is more than double that - because they are charging for their management app. Now think about this if you are an agency and need to add 20 servers for multiple clients. The savings are just amazing.
While I still have some things to learn about CloudStick I am glad I made the purchase and hope they'll be around for many years. Check them out and see for yourself how things go.
If you have tried other services like Cloudways or FlyWP I think you'll be very happy with CloudStick either as an additional provider or to switch to them and save money. For the price, this is a steal. They could have charged 3 or 4 times this much and I would have still gladly full stacked.
