1 Star Review for CodMate Chat Product
I recently upgraded to CodMate Chat Tier 2 with high hopes of resolving my coding problems efficiently, but my experience has been nothing short of frustrating. Within just 10 minutes, I exhausted all my tokens, and unfortunately, that seems to be a recurring theme.
I discovered on the website that there’s an option to bring your own API key, but I was dismayed to learn from various comments and reviews that this feature comes with an annual subscription to an additional plugin. This feels misleading, especially for new users who might think they’re getting full access with their tier upgrade.
Despite paying for Tier 2, I ended up using tokens rapidly without having the tools I expected. The inability to scan entire folders for files is a major drawback; having to manually attach each file to ask specific questions is not just inconvenient, it’s an inefficient design that hinders productivity.
In short, if you’re considering CodMate Chat, be cautious. Assess what you're actually signing up for, because the promises don’t match the reality. It’s disappointing to invest in a service that doesn't deliver on its potential. I certainly won’t be renewing my subscription.

1. Firstly, we dont play any role in token consumption. Its dependent on what context you pass along with your query, and what output is delivered by the model and any extra operation like web search is added or not. You can add your own API keys and would see the same number of tokens being consumed (or even more) since everywhere similar tokenisers are used to calculate the number of tokens consumed.
2. Bring your own keys is already available in AppSumo Tier 3+. We dont charge any extra amount for this feature. Annual subscription is only for Pro addon if you need unlimited usage and its still at a fraction of cost than you'll end up spending when you add your own OpenAI keys.
3. You need to add the folders in your knowledge base for CodeMate to answer questions keeping entire codebase into context. Here is a quick demo video how you can do the same.
