We’ve reviewed the issue you raised about forcing a default “granted” state via GTM. While we understand the goal behind it, CookiePal is built to be fully GDPR-compliant by default, which means we don’t allow overriding consent choices in ways that could conflict with current privacy laws.

That said, there is a technical workaround using a custom script which may offer more flexibility. We’re happy to guide you through that if it helps achieve what you’re trying to do, while still respecting GDPR requirements.

Thanks again for your feedback, and I appreciate the chance we had to speak directly about your request about 15 minutes ago. I fully understand your goals and the frustration this has caused.

That said, I want to be transparent: setting a cookie banner to default to a “granted” state is something we cannot support, as it would break GDPR compliance and Google Consent Mode v2 requirements. Since CookiePal is built around protecting our users by staying compliant, we cannot make exceptions here.

During our call, I did share that there are technical workarounds, such as setting a default consent state in Analytics or Google Ads, but I advised against using them for the same compliance reasons. To avoid future confusion, we’ll also be updating our documentation to make it clear that we don’t recommend touching the default consent state within GTM if you want to remain compliant.
