Good idea, mediocre execution, deaf to customers
The idea behind Covve is a good one. I am on the fence about keeping my subscription to see if they add features/improve the performance. It reminds me of 24sessions that I bought here: I had a lot of hope that it would improve, but they never did. Covve, like 24 sessions, believes that their app is perfect for 80% of their users. My gut says that if you don't have 95% satisfaction out of the box as a user to get a refund. My biggest gripe with Covve right now is the mobile device processing power required to run the app. I have iPhone 5S and am perfectly happy with the device and the storage on it (64GB). It has no issues with UI/UX on other apps that could potentially be equally as demanding (e.g. Evernote has no problems loading/functioning). iPhone 5S is a currently supported device for apple. However, covve did not mention in the offer that the app performs best on a specific devices/generations. Response from Covve customer support: "Some of the lagging you are facing is to be expected given the fact that Covve is not optimized for your device." The lagging is related to load time (20 seconds to load the app), to the scanning (10 seconds to scan a business card), and to the response when tapping the screen (often takes 2-3 taps of something to activate). Covve response to this: "Regarding the issues you mention, they are indeed caused by the device specs." It might be harder to rectify the performance issues that I have patience to wait for. I will not actively use Covve daily, but I might check in on it after 3-6 months.
PROS: concept is great - clean contact info, tools to connect with your network/customers, tracking contact notes. the In-touch feature to provide regular ping of contacts, analytics/visuals on desktop.
CONS: iOS app performance, UI/UX not knowing where to tap/enter data, scanning only picks up 50-60% of the data.

May 9, 2024Hi there,
Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed review. I’d actually written back to you on the support discussion earlier today – I’ll provide a summary here as well for the benefit of others…
As correctly mentioned, Covve is indeed optimized for modern devices. Of course we would like Covve to work perfectly on every single device but we do have to draw the line somewhere and prioritise our efforts towards activities that provide the most value to most people – actually, the majority of our roadmap is driven by user feedback!
In the case of the iPhone 5S, under 0.3% of our visitors have this phone (and dropping every month) making it hard to justify prioritizing :(
A couple more points if I may:
1) You (rightly) wonder whether we’ll be updating and improving Covve going forwards. I’ve got some good news here… the vast majority of the company’s resource goes into exactly this. Updates to the app and backend happen every two weeks and actually since the launch of the appsumo deal we’ve made 8 updates to the product – so yes, improving Covve is what we do :)
2) Regarding the appsumo offer – I certainly wouldn’t want you paying for something you’re not enjoying right now. I’ve suggested a solution that may work for you in my email to your support request – hope it helps!
All the best,
Alex
