Good but could be better
I heard all the hype on this tool so I figured I'd take the plunge.
This is a good tool for someone that doesn't have any design skills whatsoever. You can turn out an ad or a graphic fairly quickly. The library is pretty good and you have plenty of images and videos to choose from to get what you need.
I created an animated Facebook post that was multiple pages so that took me a while longer to create, particularly because it was my first go on the software.
Things I liked:
1) It rendered surprisingly fast. Like, under a minute.
2) I could upload my own fonts - a must for me
3) Lots of stock, animations, videos, and background all baked into the platform
4) The ability to one-click resize your project. Not enough platforms have this.
5) Integration with Depositphotos - same company so it makes sense.
Things I think they need to work on:
1) Search. Their search is really frustrating. There's one dimension - the end. If you plan on using their templates at all, you'd better get comfortable because you are going to be here a while.
2) They make you start with one of their templates. I'd rather just start with a blank canvas. Let me choose the size from a list and I'll be on my way. Can't do that here. You have to choose a template and delete everything. Not optimal.
3) No ability to link my Depositphotos account in. I was really surprised by this. I have an account - that I bought through AppSumo! You are sister companies. Let me pull photos from my account into this platform - even if I have to buy them in DP before I do it.
4) They need a spellchecker. Honestly, I am surprised that there's not one in there already.
5) The ability to upload audio (at least music) would make this a much better experience since you can turn out animated files
6) Color picker is wonky. This is a UI issue.
7) Layering and selection of layers is far too simple. It's almost self defeating at times.
8) Only one team allowed. What's up with that? Even the page above says "Teams". Tough to keep things organized with just one team.
9) No ability to save branding for different clients. This is almost a standard feature in just about every platform we use.
With all that said, this is a pretty decent tool right now. It will get better, I suspect. It's certainly not for me. I need more control but my team will make great use of it since not all of them are designers. My kids may enjoy it as well. For this price, it's a no-brainer even if all you are going to do is use the stock they provide in the Pro account for your own purposes.
